As the commercial center of China Shanghai is a major industrial powerhouse, with a population of 25 million. Shanghai is a major manufacturing center for automotive companies, namely Volkswagen, General Motors and SAIC Motor. Most global suppliers maintain production facilities, R & D or purchasing centers in Shanghai. Automotive and numerous other end user industries for machine tools range, from shipbuilding to aircraft components, form the unique industrial landscape of Shanghai.

CME takes place at the brand new National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC) – right at the heart of the market. NECC boasts a superb location in close proximity to the Hongqiao traffic hub, with high-speed railway station, airport, as well as excellent highway and subway connections. Thus the key machine tool markets of China are just a short distance away from NECC.
