The Knots of Wood Flooring

Are knots on wood flooring a problem? The answer is not necessarily. This depends on the type of wood flooring.

On the surface, knots appear to be defects in the wood. Knots appear on trunks where the branches are dead. This alone would seem to indicate that the knot is defective.

However, from another point of view, these "defects" can become a selling feature of hardwood floors, especially rustic hardwood floors. The difference between rustic grade wood flooring and natural grade hardwood flooring is only whether there are knots in the wood. In fact, the knot on the floor has little effect on the floor. The existence of "defects" reflects the uniqueness of each board, they are given by nature in the process of natural growth, and it is these "defects" that have the unique beauty of nature.

Wood defects that may affect the quality of the floor include: Broken grooves; Broken grooves; Split ends; Warped boards.

However, it is important to note that some of these defects also have little or no effect on the actual floor. You will often find small defects in the second floor of the factory. This flooring does not meet the manufacturer's standards for quality materials. This type of flooring is classified as "minor". Some of the reasons flooring is classified as factory defective include knots, wood color changes, a possible shorter average board length, and other minor finish defects.
